My Snow Day Essentials
Cold days are definitely towards the bottom on the list of things I enjoy. I could sit here and list things I dislike about winter for hours, but have decided to focus on something positive instead. The beloved snow day. That day when the blizzard strikes with such hard force, your entire commuity has no choice but to shut down.
When I was a kid I would patiently wait by the radio on stormy days to see if my school was closed for the day. It was always exciting when the announcer said my school's name. Back then it was like any other day off, a day to play and do whatever I wanted.
As an adult the experience is a little different. On my scheduled days off I normally have so many things I need to do that relaxing isn't always an option. When a snow day hits, I'm stuck inside so these are the days where taking a break is 100% the only option. Snow days are an unscheduled timeout, which is why I've grown to love them.
Now on stormy days I patiently wait for that phone call from my boss telling me to stay home. These days do not happen very often, so when they do I use them as an opportunity to guiltlessly unwind.
Snow days are meant for staying warm and comfy. It's always a great idea to have yourself prepared with the right items for a relaxing day snowed in. I've teamed up with Indigo Books to share my list of cozy winter essentials that make my snow days so much better.

On frosty days like these I like to keep the hot drinks flowing. Whether it's coffee, tea, cider or whatever your tastebuds prefer. A hot beverage warms you up from inside. It's important to find a good quality mug to drink your favourite hot beverage in. Cheap mugs crack easily, making it easier for bacteria to find a home in your mug. I love the mugs from Indigo because they are very good quality and they hold a lot of coffee! Here are a few of my favourites.
My favourite way to warm up is a nice hot bath. Since winter can do some serious damage to your skin, a bath is one of your best choices for keeping your skin hydrated. If you are looking for more tips on keeping your skin healthy during winter time, check out one of my previous posts Winter Skin Care Tips For Dry Skin.
I love using bath bombs and other fun products in my baths. They're such a fun way to add extra moisture and fragrance to the bath. When I'm finished my skin always feels silky smooth. The fun colour they change the bath water is an extra bonus. Have you tried these bath balms yet?
Don't let your toes get cold. Keeping your feet nice and toasty is essential for staying warm on brisk winter days. Slipper socks (aka reading socks) are one of my favourite ways to keep my toes nice and cozy. Check out this selection of high quality slipper socks that are guaranteed to keep your toes warm no matter how low the temperature gets.
What's a cold day without a nice warm blanket to curl up into. Your winter storm day blanket can't be just any blanket either. This is the blanket you'll turn to when the winter wind is howling. It has to be the one that will keep you feeling calm and comfortable during the coldest storm.
Now that we've covered your essentials to staying warm on this brisk day it's time for some entertainment. There is no better day to tick a book off of your "to be read" list than a snow day. Get warm and cozy under that blanket and start flipping the pages. What's next on your list to be read? Here are a few of mine:
THE PACKAGE: An International Thriller of Conspiracy, Murder and Betrayal
No snow day is complete without your favourite snacks. Sit back, unwind, and munch away on your favourites. It's always a good idea to stock up on your favourites during winter. You never know when you're going to get snowed in for a day or two.
